We are Rebecca and Bruce, a married, picture-making team, and we’ve been photographing weddings together for more than sixteen years. Even after hundreds of weddings, this work inspires and energises us more than ever. We are a true partnership, personally, professionally and creatively, and we continue to learn from each other. We met as students at university and we were married in 2010. Our own marriage reminds us often that weddings are just a tiny part of the greater story.
The idea of the bigger story excites us, and we seek to make images that reflect both the truth of the wedding day, and the reality of the bigger picture - honouring the myriad of relationships that have brought you to this point, and the people who will see you through to the end.
We live in Muizenberg, Cape Town with our sons, Abel and Joseph, and rescue dog Cove, at Sunbird Cottage, the home we renovated together.
Over the years, we've learned that the most treasured photographs often come from the unplanned moments - the laughter between speeches, the quiet glances, the chaos that somehow becomes beautiful.
(We've written about our documentary approach and shared our favourite venues for anyone curious about how we see this work.)
