Paris // Day 3

We starred day three in Paris with a walking tour of Montmartre, home to the Moulin Rouge, the cafe Amelie works at (in my favourite film, Amelie), Van Gogh’s apartment and the Sacre Couer.

Below is Au Lapin Agile, at the turn of the twentieth century, this cabaret was a favorite spot for struggling artists and writers, including Picasso and Modigliani.

Left: a statue tribute to author Marcel Ayme / Right: a statue of Saint Denis (patron saint of France)

A street artist installed this piece next to the statue of Marcel Ayme…

Le Moulin de la Galette, a place that often held parties (one of which was the subject of one of Renoir’s most famous paintings)

The bar featured in Amelie

  The Sacre Couer

Next we took a walk around the outside of the Louvre

A couple of photos of our apartment block…four flights of stairs that helped to justify all the pastry-eating…

Such rad pics. Its so funny that you love Amelie so much: I’ve sometimes thought how much you look like Amelie in the movie :)
