We loved that the ceremony was held at Philippa’s family home – it echoed the sense of family that was so present throughout the day. What a treat to photograph a wedding where you have the deep sense, in your heart of hearts, that what you are witnessing is the beginning of a marriage that will last. Here are a few of our favourite images.

They love each other with a depth and excitement that has transcended oceans. Theirs is the kind of love that most people only dream about, and from the way they look at each other it is clear to see that they know how blessed they are.

We loved…

Charlie’s excited squeals as she got ready to marry the love of her life.

Dan’s tears as he saw his bride…and his tears as he listened to the speeches, and his tears as he spoke…Dan’s tears in general.

The abundance of laughter that matched the free-flowing tears.

Charlie hugging guests with so much energy that she ripped part of her dress… but totally taking this in her stride and asking her mom to cut off the part of the dress that was damaged – our kind of bride!

While everyone else is on holiday we pass the days in a crazy wedding haze. But then amid the exhaustion we meet a couple like Simone’ and Gareth and we are reminded why we do this. Many couples get caught up in wedding hype and they lose sight of what is truly important, but not these two. They seemed to always be aware about what the main point of a wedding day is – standing before God and friends and family, and committing to love each other forever. We hope you can see that in the photos.

Simone’s amazing sister and bridesmaid not only made the wedding cake but she also made a last minute

alteration to the wedding dress to keep it from slipping down. Wow!

The rings were passed from person to person so that the guests could all bless them.

We loved Carla’s freckles, the super gorgeous light filtering through the fynbos and Carla and Matt’s happy hearts. Here are a few of our favourites…

Since the very first meeting, sipping a Vida iced-coffee with these two lovelies, it was obvious that this would be a wedding to remember. Then came their super rad engagement shoot and the excitement grew! And then on to their wedding.

We loved…pretty much everything! But here are a few special mentions:

The venue! I think it is safe to say we have found one of our new favourite venues: De Uijlenes in Gansbaai is amazing! From the forest ceremony, to the post-ceremony picnic, to the barn reception, everything was perfect. And what is more, there was affordable accommodation on the farm for all the wedding guests, so everyone could stay and celebrate as late as they wanted and all have breakfast together the next morning. Stacey, the wedding coordinator at the venue was a dream to work with too – so sweet and helpful. Zoe and Johnny were only the 3rd couple to have their wedding here, so any other prospective brides and grooms better get in there while they can – this place is going to book up fast!

The gorgeous bridal party – every one looked amazing, from the bridesmaids in their bohemian-inspired dresses, the groomsmen in their relaxed country attire, to Johnny’s super styling Country Road suit and Zoe’s one-of-a-kind wedding dress, made by a talented friend as a wedding gift, this was one good-lookin’ entourage!

The people! Everyone at this wedding was just so darn lovely – Zoe and Johnny have clearly surrounded themselves with some very special people.

The music – we have heard some pretty terrible, cheesy wedding DJs in our time, but DJ Chopper was awesome! We couldn’t believe our ears when we heard bands like Mumford and Sons, Arcade Fire and the Black Keys coming out of her speakers. Pure class!

Real emotion. And this folks is what it is really all about – a wedding bursting at the seems with emotion.

It’s just a small sneak peek, but we really like these photos! At the bride and groom’s request, there are lots of black & white images… we’re not complaining! Congrats Jess and Christo.

Here are a few reasons why:

1. Shameem wore her mother’s wedding dress and she didn’t have to alter it even 1cm – it fit her like a glove. Amazingly, her sister wore this dress on her wedding day too (and also didn’t have to alter it), AND one of the guests at the wedding was the woman who made the dress 35 years ago. Now that is what we call heritage.

2. Shameem was possibly the most relaxed bride we have ever met. I have never seen someone so calm on their wedding day. Amazing!

3. When we were photographing them together, Shameem and Ighti barely noticed we were there – they were completely fixated with each other, they spontaneously laughed, kissed, snuggled and gazed at one another without any coaxing at all.

4. There were children in abundance at this wedding, which we love!

5. There was an amazing sense of community throughout the day – the love and support for Shameem and Ighti was tangible.

We are truly blessed to document love like this!
