My amazing friend Tina started the LBD Company about a year ago and I am so proud of her. I am not done editing this shoot yet, but here are a few shots that jumped out at me. The Little Black Dress Company will be opening in Tygervalley Mall before the end of this year. Tina, we love you lots and know the future holds good things for you! x

As you can see, she is absolutely gorgeous, which made my job really easy. Bruce and I lead a Matric cell group at our church, which Astrid is a part of, and it has been such an honour walking a road of faith with such a wonderful group of young people. I loved seeing the excitement in Astrid’s eyes that evening and I hope she and all the other Matrics in our group carry that excitement with them as they embark on life beyond school.

Another friend of ours, Scott, bet Jason R50 that Jason wouldn’t be able to grow his beard for 5 months from the day of the wedding without shaving it. Jason was determined to win the bet and as a result, 5 months later he had a beard any lumberjack would be proud of. We decided that before he shaved it we had to have some pictures to commemorate it, so we quickly popped down to Tokai forest, a fitting location for this Mountain Man. Well done Jason, and while we are at it, well done Nikki! Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you…the BEARD!

A few months later she contacted me to shoot some samples of the wedding stationery she’s been designing. As soon as I saw her stuff I was in love, and I know you will love it too! I am a firm believer that your wedding invitation (the first thing people see) can set the tone for your whole wedding- it gives your guests the first taste of what your wedding will be like, formal and stylish, quirky and playful, clean and classic or relaxed and whimsical. How amazing is this laser-cut invite!

I finally got the chance a couple of weeks ago. My beautiful, talented cousin Ruth helped me style the shoot and together we came up with some cool ideas. I got really excited when Ruth arrived with about 6 bags of apples to use as props! I roped in some of my favourite people to be in front of the camera, (Jenna, Leanne and Ant- thank you!) and ‘production assistant’ Bruce (what a legend!) and the rest just flowed. The old-school vibe of the car inspired me to edit in a retro style, which I think was pretty successful. If you’re wondering about the bird shot, we scattered some crumbs, waited for the pigeons to gather and then Bruce gave them a fright while I fired away! SO MUCH FUN! Some of the apple shots remind me of a shoot US Photographer Jessica Claire did of Jill Thomas, so I will call this shoot my ode to them. Enjoy…

You can imagine my excitement when I saw how gorgeous Kim looked in her dramatic black gown, and Ed looked rather dashing too! Thanks SO much guys for being such rockstars for the camera- you totally made the shoot!

We met these five gorgeous girls on the beach early one Sunday morning. The light was perfect and the vibe was so much fun! I LOVED the girls’ choice of outfits- it makes such a difference to the shoot when things like clothes are planned properly. Thanks girls for your willingness to laugh with abandon and for your energetic attitude in-front of the camera- it made things so easy for us! Your love for each other really shines through the photos and we hope you like them as much as we do.

You can dress it up, dress it down, wear it anywhere and always look fabulous. The little black dress is not a passing fad, it is every season’s wardrobe essential.

A few weeks ago we gathered some of our closest girlfriends together and we did this shoot to showcase some of the dresses from the boutique. We started off in Claremont, opposite Cavendish Square, where the boutique is situated, and then moved to Chelsea Wynberg for the second part of the shoot.
